In California, a contract is valid if:
- You accepted an offer to exchange something of value for specific goods, services, or promises.
- You were not forced into the contract
- You were not tricked or mislead before accepting the contract
- You were not underage, intoxicated, or mentally ill when you entered into the contract
- The terms of the contract were not grossly unfair
- There were no mistakes in the contract that make it unenforceable
- The contract does not involve illegal substances like drugs
- You have a written contract for:
- The sale of real estate
- The sale of goods worth more than $500
- Contracts that will take longer than one year to fulfill
- Lease agreements lasting more than one year
- Contracts to pay someone else's debt
- Contracts for marriage
Do not wait to contact a lawyer. The statute of limitations restricts the time you have to file your claim. In California, you have two years from the date of the breach of an oral contract, and four years from the date of the breach of a written contract to file suit.

Case Study: Land DeveloperThe firm was part of a team of attorneys representing a plaintiff land developer in a multi-million dollar dispute between the developer and his former business partners. The suit alleged breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, fraud and interference with economic opportunity, amongst other claims. The litigation was settled for a sum in the eight figures, after substantial pre-trial discovery revealed collusion between the defendants and others—all designed to destroy our client’s interest in a unique and highly profitable business opportunity |
